Evidently in a celebration of this kind scores of anecdotes are told, of which, given their peculiarity, the following are noteworthy:

1.- In the 50's a rocket about the size of a bottle of wine made in Guadix was let off in Baza, using a broom handle for its cane.

2.- Also in the 50's, from the point of departure at Rodeas to the Church of Mercy, Cascamorras was accompanied by a couple of Civil Guards, preventing people from painting him and receiving any kind of booing, shouting and whistling. It gave rise to a delicate situation because he was not being daubed by the people of Baza, in light of which a member of the Brotherhood of Guadix got hold of paint and daubed him. The next day they did not receive a single donation in the collection made in the locality.

3.- Years later the Civil Guard were replaced by a couple of local police who were to receive the same treatment as Cascamorras, paint, water and baths along the route.

4.- "El Cheli" holds the record for the route in Baza, doing it in 45 minutes.
