LEGISLATION PERTAINING TO FIESTA OF NATIONAL TOURIST INTEREST
In 2001 the "Cascamorras" fiesta was declared Fiesta of National Tourist Interest of Andalusia, as published in the Official Gazette, BOJA of 27 February 2001 by the General Directorate for Tourist Development and Promotion. The decision was taken by the Minister for Tourism and Sport after the town councils of Guadix and Baza had sent a request accompanied by explanatory documentation about its tourist interest on 29 November 2000.
The following year, the full session of Baza Town Council agreed unanimously to request the General Secretariat of Tourism of the Ministry of Economy and Trade to declare the Fiesta of National Tourist Interest, which now has been obtained.
This is the second fiesta of National Tourist Interest that Granada has, after the granting in 1997 of this designation to the provincial capital's Holy Week celebrations.
